Tests For Checking Purity of Shilajit:

Shilajit is very responsive to external temperature. In cold temperatures, it becomes hard and solid-like. When the temperature is high, it assumes a thick, sticky, liquid-like texture (sticks to the finger). This is known as the Pliability Test, and is the best way to find out the authenticity of Shilajit. Most liquid Shilajit found in the market is diluted with fulvic acid to ensure it stays liquid (dripping) in all temperatures, which indicates it is impure.

Pure Shilajit is always found in a clay-like thick liquid form (it is never a dripping liquid).

Pure Shilajit dissolves in water (98–100% water soluble) without leaving any residue. If residue is left, it shows Shilajit is mixed with fillers, and the water will taste sandy.

Shilajit contains Humins (insoluble in water) and Fulvic Acid (soluble in water). These two components are soluble and insoluble depending on the pH of the water. Thus, the pH of the water decides whether Shilajit will completely dissolve (100%) or only mostly dissolve (98–99%).

Pure Shilajit is not soluble in alcohol.

Upon a Flame Test, pure Shilajit will not burn. Only impure Shilajit can catch a robust fire and burn like a candle. However, pure Shilajit will create bubbles and turn into ash.
